10-13 Pot luck fundraiser for Gutamalian TripEvery year, the Congregational Life Committee hosts a number of activities and events that bring together people of all ages and interests to enjoy one another’s company! CongoLife plans activities such as potlucks, game nights, dances, holiday baking, festive evenings of food and music and outdoor activities.

CongoLife also hosts events that reach out to the local community. The Community Potluck Thanksgiving Dinner welcomes anyone who would like to share a festive meal and companionship. Volunteers prepare turkeys and bring side dishes and desserts.

The Winter Solstice Celebration takes place the second or third weekend of December. A multi-generational event, it features music, dancing, storytelling, a Mummer’s Play, and other entertainment that celebrates the season.   Proceeds are donated to a local charity such as a food bank, soup kitchen, or fuel fund.

Additionally, UUCB offers its sanctuary as a performance venue for New Year’s-by-the-Bay, Belfast’s annual New Year’s Eve celebration.

The Congregational Life Committee meets regularly to plan a variety of programs, events, and activities that we hope will appeal to many members of the community. Some are seasonal—the annual Potluck Thanksgiving Dinner and perhaps a Valentine’s Dance, and sledding at the Anderson home, for example; others, like the popular game nights, attract children and adults; some are outdoor activities; and many involve food—potlucks, theme dinners, cooking together.

New ideas for activities and new committee friends and members are always welcome, as are volunteers who would like to organize or help facilitate an activity. Contact Cheryl Richardson at email hidden; JavaScript is required or 342-4649.
