UUCB is committed to bringing the values embodied in our 7th Principle into action through education and action.  We work toward realizing the  connection between our faith, action, and the environment and raising awareness of the importance of working with the public to take action on local, national, and global environmental concerns.

During the year the Green Sanctuary Committee organizes Sunday services and educational programs, such as eco-challenges, movie nights and speakers, some of which are especially for children. We try to improve recycling, composting, and energy conservation in our church building. Our committee works closely with four other Belfast churches to organize Window Dressers’  “community builds” to provide window inserts to paying and low-income area residents, thereby saving fossil fuel use and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Our committee co-sponsors several community events with the goal of educating the public and bringing awareness of environment issues to our neighborhood.

Our committee meets monthly. Interested participants may contact Corliss Davis at email hidden; JavaScript is required.
