UUCB began its campaign in January 2016 with a goal of $700,000, which would cover Phase I of the project. By mid-February more than $620,000 had been pledged by just the first group of UUCB members contacted. Much encouraged by this success, we raised the goal to $880,000, the amount estimated to complete the building.
Longtime UUCB members Roger Lee, church treasurer, and Chris LeGore, former chair of the Church Council, are the campaign co-chairs. Many members are serving as campaign visitors to members and friends, with others working on the campaign in other capacities.
Members and friends of UUCB will provide the vast majority of funds for the building renovation, but the representatives of the campaign are reaching out to the local community as well. We hope that the local community will enthusiastically share our vision of how our new space will benefit the Belfast area and donate to the campaign.
