Becoming a member is not required, but
encouraged. Some people
remain "friends of the church" for years, and are just as
involved as members. But
only members can vote in congregational elections. If you decide to join the UU Church of Belfast, it will
be an important moment for you, and for us. We will do all we can to help you
feel welcome, make new friends and continue your spiritual journey. In
return, we hope that you will become involved in the church in ways that are
meaningful for you. We suggest that you find a small group that nourishes
your soul; that you join in the work of a committee of your choosing; and
that you support the church, as you are able, with your financial gifts. Membership is open to any one who supports our
principles, purposes and goals. Joining the UU Church of Belfast is simple: 1. E-mail the
Membership Committee. 2. Meet with
the minister, Deane Perkins.
Deane can be reached at minister@uubelfast.org. 3. Attend an
orientation program for newcomers; this is not mandatory but strongly
recommended. 4. Fill out
a membership form and sign the membership book in the presence of the
minister or a church officer. 5.
Participate in a new member ceremony where you will be officially
welcomed into the church and introduced, along with other new members. The ceremony will be preceded by a new
member breakfast in the Hospitality Room. We truly hope you find the UU Church of Belfast to be a
supportive community where you can continue your spiritual journey and help
to make a difference in the world. |
