FEB. 5 A Good Death?
with Linda Buckmaster
Wandering off into the snow like an Eskimo is one fantasy of a good death
that some have. As a culture that expects to control life, our fear of
the
chaos of death can lead us to these fantasies. What is a good death
and
how can we prepare for it?
FEB. 12 Stone Soup
with the Belfast UU Youth
Our UU Belfast youth tell the fable of Stone Soup, an old folk story in
which hungry strangers persuade local people of a town to give them food
in this lesson of cooperation. An empty cooking pot, filled initially
by travelers
with stream water and a stone, is garnished with nutrients and seasonings
by local villagers until a delicious and nourishing pot of soup is
enjoyed by all. Stone Soup will be served following the service as a hospitality
treat.
FEB. 19 Churches of Peace
with Rev. Deane Perkins.
We have talked about Paradise as a viable historical and theological
context
for Unitarian Universalists. What might that look like concretely?
How can we give this meaning in todays world?
FEB. 26 Creating Peace
with Rev. Deane Perkins
It is important as a congregation that we have a vision, that we have
a
sense of who we are and how we are unique, and that we are clear as to
how we wish to nurture the spirit, and help heal the world.
MARCH 4 The Art of Giving Stewardship
with Rev. Deane Perkins
Giving is a spiritual practice. Living fully is a spiritual practice.
The way
we see money is a reflection of our spiritual lives. Stewardship then,
becomes an art as we give and live through our spiritual self.
