Passover and Easter:  Celebrating the Same Truth

Dialogue sermon given by Pam Gross and Dick Snyder

Looking at the stories and interpretations of the Hebrews’ flight from Egypt and the resurrection of Jesus Gross and Snyder will focus on the centrality of the struggle for liberation against the forces of death that is central to both.  Concerned that the flames of tension and misunderstanding between Christians and Jews have been fanned recently by the controversy over the film, “The Passion of he Christ,” as well as by the increasing global tension among the world’s religions, Gross and Snyder believe it is critical to understand the essential commonality of these two faiths during this hold season for each.

Trafficking in Hope

given by Lane Fisher

What distinguishes hope from cockeyed optimism?  Why do some people feel disdain for the notion of hope?  How can one cultivate hope while teetering on the brink of despair?  Four and a half years of helping to edit Hope magazine have taught Lane a few thing about the ins and outs of hope, and today she’ll share some conundrums, insights, and wonders.
