JUNE SERVICES

 JUNE 5

The Children are the Teachers

Led by the RE teachers and children

Please join us for our annual end of the school year RE service. This is a service led by the RE teachers and CHILDREN of the Religious Education program.  Its purpose is to share with the congregation what happens after the children are “sung out” and gather upstairs together. The children will share some of the

songs, activities and events they enjoyed this year. This will also be an opportunity to give thanks to the wonderful volunteers who make this program possible.

Potluck follows service! Don’t forget to stay, even if you forget to bring something.

JUNE 12

Living through “Annus Horribilis”

Led by our minister, Pam Gross

A Latin phrase meaning ‘horrible year,’ it was most famously used by Queen Elizabeth II when she described the year 1992 as her “annus horribilis. “  The phrase was a humorous reference to John Dryden‘s 1666 poem Annus Mirabilis (The Year of Wonders).  I will share my thoughts about living through dark times, after my own annus horribilis in 2004.

JUNE 19

Father’s Day

Led by fathers, with special music by a father and by the men’s chorus.

“If God is our Father…”

by Richard Snyder

Is there anything redeemable in the image of God as father?  Has it been an abusive relationship?  Is judgment and punishment what God is all about or is there a way of thinking about God as father that can lead to peace and wholeness?

JUNE 26

Flower Communion

Led by Bonnie VersbonCoeur

The Flower Communion traditionally reminds us to practice the first UU principle of affirming the worth and dignity of every individual. Today Bonnie will relate it to our sixth and seventh principles as well—our responsibility to the interdependent web of life and our goal of a peaceful world community.  The children’s choir will help open the service, and wisdom from Buddhism will inform it throughout.

JULY 3

NO SERVICE

By tradition, we take this Sunday off.  The summer schedule, July 10th through September 4th, will begin on July 10th.
