Honoring Our Elders

Love, Not Fear, Is Practiced Here

given by the Rev. Kitsy Winthrop

In these scary times, we need to remind ourselves and each other that fear is just an emotion to be felt, not a place to take a up residence. The human heart is challenged when it contracts with fear and tries to expand with love at the same time…so let us work together to look at our fears and live out of love. (Kitsy was our part-time minister 1996-98 and now serves the Midcoast UU Fellowship in Edgecomb and the UU Church of St. John, New Brunswick.)

Enough Already!

given by our minister, Pamela Gross

At no other time of year are we so inclined to feel scarcity as we do during the holiday season: not enough time, not enough money, not enough energy, not enough light…and the litany goes on. Against this backdrop, we will consider the spiritual practice of gratitude.

Becoming More Welcoming

given by members of the Welcoming Congregation Committee

Our committee has had a powerful experience while going through the Welcoming Congregation workshops this fall. We will share how rewarding it has been to learn to trust each other more fully and to share our thoughts, feelings, and experiences regarding sexual orientation and gender identification. We are convinced that the congregation, learning of our experience, will want to participate in the same process to continue building bridges of understanding and community, so that as a church we are more welcoming.

Living in the Dark, Looking for the Light

given by our minister, Pamela Gross

In many religious traditions, this is a season of watchful waiting, and it is a natural time for introspection. Come and rest for an hour in its meditative embrace. This is the first in a series of December services exploring the religious meanings of light and darkness.
