Tu B’Shevat: The Evolution of a Jewish Holiday
given by Rabbi
Amita Jarmon
In Israel, the almond trees bloom at this time of year, and
Jews the world over celebrate this new year for the trees on Tu B’Shevat.
Amita Jarmon, rabbi at Rockland’s Adas Yoshuron Synagogue, will reflect on
the evolution of this celebration and how it shows Judaism to be a dynamic
and vital religion in practice today. Her roots in the Reconstructionist
Rabbinical School encourage creativity and nuance in the leadership of
Jewish tradition.

Oh, God!
given by our
minister, Pamela Gross
Many of us have uttered these words under a variety circumstances,
but what do they mean? Some people holler them when they win something big;
others, when something goes terribly wrong. They are also the beginning—and
end—of many a prayer. As Unitarian Universalists, how do we understand the
spiritual practice of prayer?

Fathoming the Practice of Friendship
given by Atlanta
McIlwraith and Margaret L. Macleod
The practice of friendship helps us to explore and stay present to our deepest
values. It gives us the possibility of examining our souls through the
witness of another, and assures us that we need not navigate the seas of
life alone. Drawing on quotations,
readings and personal reflection, Atlanta and Margaret invite you to dive
into the refreshing, sweet waters of friendship.
