MAY SERVICES

MAY 7

Common and Uncommon Threads: Interfaith Dialogue and

Unitarian Universalism

given by our minister, Pam Gross, and Cheryl Fuller

Cheryl, a community manager for Beliefnet.com, writes: “Every week I see so much effort put forth by every faith group trying to show how some other group is wrong. Lip service is given to tolerance, but when offered an opportunity, debate and challenge are what draw the most energy.” Together, Cheryl and Pam will explore the challenges and need for interfaith conversation.

MAY 14

Mothers, Martyrs, Gods, and Giving Trees

given by Amy Robbins-Wilson

As her son Clayton’s first birthday approaches, Amy will share reflections from the first year of her journey with him.

MAY 21

A Sometimes Muzzy Perspective

given by our retiring council co-chair, Kathy Muzzy

Each member of its congregations watches the evolution of our church from a different vantage point. This service will flow from Kathy's viewpoints as a member of "this wonderful congregation" from the beginning and two years as its co-chair. She says it just so happens that her name is easily woven into her perspective.

MAY 28

Remembrance

given by Dan Avener

What does Memorial Day mean to you? Images of flags, military parades, and faces of loved ones no longer present can stir strong feelings in us.  Dan, a Vietnam war veteran and peace activist, will talk about the meaning of this day for him and will invite members of the congregation to share their own thoughts.

JUNE 4

Minister

given by ours, Pam Gross

Each of us enters the doors of this community with our particular histories and perspectives on church, faith, God, and—yes, even the word minister. As with these other potent words, the spectrum of definitions and expectations that minister invokes is wide and diverse. Pam will share some thoughts and conversation about “The Minister, A Minister, To Minister.”
