NOVEMBER SERVICES

OCT 29

Witches’ Words

given by our minister, Pam Gross

What can we learn about good and evil from the mouths of witches?

Glinda and Elphaba (from the book Wicked) will speak.

NOV 5

What’s UU Got To Do with It? (New Member Sunday)

given by our minister, Pam Gross

It’s been 12 years since a small group of UUs began holding services at the Belfast Dance Studio, and look how our church has grown! We’ll explore the challenges and opportunities of a growing and changing membership--for both new members and longstanding ones.

NOV 12

Comfort, Breath, and Pepper

given by Linda Buckmaster, Elizabeth Garber,

Karin Spitfire, and Barbara Maria

We often look to poetry to bring us comfort, to provide a breath of spaciousness in our busy and sometimes confusing lives, or to surprise us with a dash of pepper that conveys new insights. On this morning, Belfast's own Illuminated Sea Press Poets will give us a taste of poetry’s power.  (After the service, the poets will have copies of their books for sale and will donate 25% of the day’s sales to the church’s building fund.)

NOV 19

If You Weren’t Afraid

given by the Rev. Mark Worth

Now full-time minister at Castine’s Unitarian Universalist Congregation, Mark Worth will talk about some UU women clergy he admires. Mark lives in Penobscot with his wife of 27 years, Michelle “Mickey” Worth.

NOV 26

Circles of Gratitude

given by Mike Monahan

Our service on this Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend will be, literally, a moving one. Mike Monahan, a Farmington resident and certified teacher of Dance of Universal Peace, will teach us chants, songs, and simple circle dances from different world religions that draw us further into the practice of gratitude. Even if movement is a challenge for you, come sing with us, make rhythm, and participate as you are able.
