JAN 7

Stars Above and Stars Within: Seeking and Following

given by Susan Silvario

How do we create sanctuaries for children’s spiritual experience and development?  Susan Silvario is living this question now and will share her reflections, as well as insights from Rudolf Steiner. Founding teacher of Ashwood Waldorf School, Susan now teaches kindergarten at Spindlewood in Lincolnville, near her family homestead.  She leads LifeWays Early Childhood Training Seminars and is also a founder of Mid-Coast Hospitality House, which offers shelter for homeless families and prison visitors.

JAN 14

Going Back to the Source

given by our minister, Pam Gross

How can we find our way in this confusing world? Pam will share some abiding wisdom.

JAN 21

What’s Love Got to Do With It?

given by the Rev. Danielle Di Bona

This service will look deeply at anti-racism. A member of the Wampanoag tribe, Danielle Di Bona is a former UUA staff member whose positions included Anti-Racism Program Coordinator. She has been a leader in the UU Women’s Federation, is now president-elect of Diverse Revolutionary UU Multicultural Ministries (DRUUMM), and has discussed racism several times as a presenter at General Assembly. Rev. Di Bona is now our neighbor in Thomaston, and so we welcome her to Maine and to Belfast.

JAN 28

In the Growing Warmth

given by Sylvia Sims

February 2 is known by many names: Brigid’s Day, for the Celtic Goddess of fire and inspiration, and Oimelc or Imbolc (which means “new lambs”).  When Christianity came, it was renamed Candlemas, and, of course, we also know it as Groundhog Day. By whichever name and whatever ceremony it is celebrated, the day marks the knowledge that, in the deepest cold of winter, the spring is coming to birth in the growing warmth of the sun, and we will rejoice!
