APRIL SERVICES

APR 1

The City of New Orleans

given by members of the Rockland and Edgecomb UU congregations

In November a group of 15 teenagers and 10 adults from the UU

congregations in Rockland and Edgecomb, Maine, spent a week helping New Orleans residents clean out and rebuild their homes. Several members of the group have made return trips to the city since November to help with ongoing recovery efforts. Some of the youth and adults will join us this Sunday to talk about why they went to the Gulf Coast to help, what they accomplished during their service trips, and what they have learned about the unique culture and people of New Orleans.

APR 8
Easter

Rolling the Stone Away

given by the Rev. Danielle Di Bona

There are things in life that keep us from growing spiritually,

emotionally, and mentally.  Easter is a season of rebirth, regeneration

and resurrection. This is a time for us to consider rolling the stone

away from our graves so that we might grow in ways that invigorate us

and prepare us to live deep, full, meaningful lives so that we may have

the strength to live our faith.

APR 15

Sisters in Spirit

given by the Rev. Kitsy Winthrop

Few of us--women or men--know much, if anything, about some important chapters in human history that were "written" by women. Because flooding kept Kitsy from Belfast in March, she will bring us one of those chapters today. Kitsy served us part-time from 1996 to 1998 and

now serves the congregations in Edgecomb, Maine, and Saint John, New Brunswick.

APR 22

Earth Day

The Universe Story

given by Coleen O'Connell and members of the congregation

This intergenerational service dramatizes the creation of the universe,

evolution of life on Earth, and our relatively recent role as human

beings. Come celebrate this awe-inspiring history and the talents

within our church community.

APR 29

“In Praise of Immorality” (Luke 16:1-9)

given by Dick Snyder

The sermon will focus on the difference between the merely immoral and the truly immoral and how conscience, personal choice, and survival may lead us to immoral actions.

MAY 6

In Search of ... Something

given by our minister, Pam Gross

Most of us arrive here yearning for and searching for...something. With

our fourth principle, we affirm and promote "a free and responsible

search for truth and meaning." So what does a "free and responsible"

search look like?
