7 Choosing to Bless the World Led
by our minister, Pam Gross and members of the congregation In
our traditional in-gathering service after Labor Day, we bring small
containers of
water from our summer travels and adventures and pour them into our common
bowl, celebrating where we’ve been, who we are, and how we gather together
to care for one another. You are then invited to take some portion of the
water out into the world and offer it as a blessing. Join us for this joyous renewal
of our church community. Sept.
14 Welcoming the Winds of Change Given
by our minister, Pam Gross Sometimes
they are gentle, sometimes they are wild and stormy. Both frightening and
refreshing, winds of change are an opportunity for profound transformation. As a
community, we are beginning a year with all the uncertainty and
opportunity those winds can bring. And yet, it is possible to approach change
as an integral part of spiritual practice. How might we live through times
of change in ways that will deepen and strengthen us as individuals and as a
community? Sept.
21 Title TBA Given
by the Rev. Dr. T. Richard Snyder As
this newsletter closes, Dick Snyder is following the wind off the coast of Nova Scotia
with nary a thought of what this Sunday’s talk will be. We can count
on it to meld UU values and activism with Dick’s Christian perspective and
to stir both our hearts and minds. Sept
28 Title TBA Given
by Cliff Guthrie, Assoc. Professor, Religion and Humanities at Husson College
and former
Assoc. Professor at Bangor Theological Seminary. While
this newsletter was coming together he was away on an island in Penobscot
Bay. His service topic will be announced in orders of service and the
electronic UUBB. We welcome Cliff back to our community for a second time,
knowing he will offer a thoughtful and engaging Sunday service. Oct.
5 Who Knows Best?–the quest for Perfection in an imperfect world Given
by our minister, Pam Gross In
these anxious times, we have been inundated with expert advice on ways to reduce
our anxiety by making the best choices. It seems we live in a world that thrives
on the idea of perfection. We are assured not only that it exists, but that
it is personally attainable. In a faith without The Perfect Answer—without creeds,
a faith that affirms the individual search for truth and meaning, as well
the inherent worth and dignity of every person—a faith which values diversity—what
does ‘perfect’ really look like?
