The Northern New England District (NNED) of UUA has awarded UUCB a $2000 grant toward our church’s portion of compensation for next year’s shared ministry intern. (Lane Fisher was the first intern in the collaboration among UUCB, the UU Congregation of Castine, and the UU Church of Ellsworth, which began last year.)

The Chalice Lighters is a program in which an individual or family pledges to respond, when asked, to calls for donations to help a congregation in the NNED fund a specific purpose.  A committee reviews requests and makes the grants, which have helped congregations improve facilities, secure professional leadership, and get programs off the ground, among other things. UUCB received a grant to support the purchase of hymnals a number of years ago.

Individuals who would like to become a Chalice Lighter in NNED can get a sign-up form from Karen Wigglesworth at email hidden; JavaScript is required. As the UUA says, “When you become a Chalice Lighter, you are joining your small light with the lights of people all over the District and helping Unitarian Universalism shine more brightly and boldly in Northern New England.”
